Vlieland is located in the province of Friesland and is the second inhabited Wadden Island from the west. The island is located between Texel and Terschelling. Just like at Terschelling, the ferry departs from Harlingen. The crossing to Vlieland takes about 90 minutes, the car must remain on the mainland. In January 2019 the island had 1138 inhabitants.
The largest Dutch Wadden Island is Texel and it belongs to the province of North Holland. Texel is about 20 km long and 8 km wide and had 13,547 inhabitants in January 2019.
